01 Identity
Ruby/Amethyst is the most active deck a new player can pilot. Ruby brings Rush characters and direct damage; Amethyst layers bounce effects, draw, and clever evasive bodies on top. The combination produces constant decisions: do I bounce my own character to dodge a removal spell, or push damage now? Do I burn this threat or save the damage for the opponent's life? Few pairs feel as responsive turn-to-turn.
02 Strategy & gameplan
A tempo archetype with combo-style finishes. Spend the first three turns establishing two-cost characters and trading aggressively. By turn five you should be threatening lethal lore swings with bounces, evasive questers, and pinpoint burn. Games typically end on turn six or seven.
Ratings are InkSight's editorial opinion to help new players choose between pairs — not a tier list or tournament metric.
03 Strengths & weaknesses
Strengths
- Highest skill ceiling among aggressive pairs
- Bounce + Rush enables surprise lethal turns
- Card draw smooths the curve nicely
- Multiple paths to win — combat, race, or trick-based
Weaknesses
- Misplays are punishing — wrong bounce can lose the game
- Light on healing — must trade favourably to survive
- Mediocre against pure control once tempo runs out
- Bodies are fragile to area damage
04 Typical archetypes
How players generally build this pair. Treat these as shapes rather than fixed lists — exact card choices change with every set.
05 Who should play this pair?
The pair for players who enjoy making the right play more than playing the best card. If you love games where the difference between two lines is the entire game, Ruby/Amethyst will give you that decision on every turn.
